We've all been watching the Winter Olympics and enjoying the performance of Team GB. Now it's the turn of the Paralympians, and Freemasonty in the Community have been involved.
Freemasonry in the Community volunteers attended the WheelPower Charity at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium on the 24th February 2026 in support of the lighting of the paralympic torch ceremony.
The torch will then be carried to Milano-Cortina in Italy for the 14th Paralympic Games which are staged from 6th March to 15th March.
Stoke Mandeville Stadium is the birthplace of the Paralympic Games having been founded by Professor Sir Ludwig Guttman in 1948.
Today the Stadium at Stoke Mandeville is a high grade leisure complex enabling WheelPower -British Wheelchair Sport to provide a venue of the highest quality for all people with disabilities.
Hopefully this will help translate to a record medal haul for the Paralympians of Team GB.

Freemasonry in the Community provided the manpower for the torch ceremony under the guidance of Provincial Charity Steward Mark Duncan. Our own Martin Fifield was on duty to help as a steward and you can just see the top of his head (and that hat) sneaking in at the back!
