Lodge member Danny Peacock joined 30 other walkers as a Provincial team set about walking 50 miles in just two days. A tough task for sure, but it was all for a good cause. The aim was to raise £16,000 for The Florence Nightingale Hospice in order to to purchase a cuddle bed so those who haven’t long left can have there loved ones with them. A well and worthy cause.

Day 1

14th July Newport Pagnell To Winslow 25 miles

We were all in great spirits have being seen off by the mayor and mayoress starting our adventure even with the dreadful weather the support team kept us fueled and hydrated stopping at various masonic centres throughout the day we were cross country best part with beautiful scenes & some roads leading to the bell hotel were we ended day 1 to the relief to us all.

Some went home looking to return the following day many stayed at the bell hotel so dinner and a little refreshment with the brethren we called it a day also to dry our footwear and socks.

Day 2

My legs feeling like sands bags I started to have doubt that I could do today but upon reflection a little discomfort I’d recover but those who haven’t time left haven’t the option so onwards and upwards it is.

Only 25 miles to go!!!

We started our next 25miles after a hearty breakfast our group was less due to couple walkers were only joining for day 1 some due to injury so couldn’t proceed,

Most walkers kept high spirits but we were all battling the hurt locker in our own way keeping in mind why we were here again support team were fantastic. Upon arriving at Bletchley Masonic Centre we were welcomed by a large audience and a slap up buffet were CEO and her team paid her heartfelt thanks and respect to Freemasons for our incredible efforts.

Support along with why this purchase was vital I was in tears by this point being tired in alot of pain but to see how much the cuddle bed can do for families and staff finished me off!

After saying goodbye to old friends and alot of new I started my journey to my family….
