“Charity is the distinguishing characteristic of a Freemason’s heart”.
Did you know that Freemasonry is the second biggest giver to good causes in the United Kingdom? Indeed in 2017 the MCF (The Masonic Charitable Fioundation) donated £33 million to charity.
Something that is rarely written about is the fact that every penny of that £33 million was donated BY Freemasons themselves. We do not go out on the street “raising” money, we donate from our own pockets “as far as our means allow”.
Charitable money is raised by fundraising at our regular meetings and special events put on by the Lodge or Province (like a County). Our province, Buckinghamshire, is currently in Festival which is a five year program of special events to help boost our charitable donations. The current festival culminates with a large charity event in 2021. You can find out more about Festival 2021 by clicking here.
